Welcome to the WPI AUV Team website! We are a group of passionate students building autonomous underwater vehicles.
Our mission is to innovate and excel in underwater robotics, pushing the boundaries of technology and exploration.
The WPI AUV Team was founded in 2024. We are ambitious and forward-looking: our current focus is designing and testing our first autonomous underwater vehicle to participate in the 2026 RoboSub Competition.
RoboSub is an international event that challenges student teams to build underwater robots capable of navigating, detecting, and interacting with their environment using sensors, cameras, and advanced algorithms. Our goal is not only to compete but to establish WPI as a long-term contender in this competition.
We have three teams:
The Electrical Team focuses on the power and control systems.
The Mechanical Team works on the vehicle's structure and propulsion.
The Software Team develops the algorithms and software for navigation and task execution.
